What is Botox?
Botox (botulinum toxin) is a toxin with a protein structure obtained from a special bacterium. The toxin temporarily weakens the muscles into which it is injected. Botox was first used in the treatment of Strabismus in the 1970s. Later, in the 1980s, it was used in the treatment of neck spasms and overactive bladder, and after 1990, it began to be used for aesthetic purposes around the world. It has been used for aesthetic purposes in our country since 1995.

Botox is the first drug to use the active ingredient botulinum toxin. Other drugs licensed by the Ministry of Health in Turkey containing botulinum toxin are Dysport and Nabota.

How is Botox applied?
The patient who will receive Botox is first evaluated by the physician.

In patients who are more sensitive to pain, the application area can be anesthetized with topical anesthetic creams. Cold applications and vibration relieve pain. The process takes approximately 5 minutes.
